Hospital Clínica Benidorm has been accredited with the most prestigious international certificate of health quality in the world, the Joint Commission International (JCI). After several years of preparation with the involvement of the entire organization and a thorough external audit, HCB has become the first private hospital in the Valencian Community to obtain the prestigious recognition.
This translates into a fully patient-oriented hospital, committed to the constant improvement of Quality and Patient Safety and, in general, a commitment to excellence in Quality of care.
This accreditation is the most demanding worldwide for the health field and analyses that all hospital care is focused on Safety and Quality and on a process of continuous improvement.
The Quality and Patient Safety standards required by this health certification place HCB among the world’s elite hospitals: such as the Mayo Clinic and Mount Sinai, in the USA; the Teknon Medical Centre in Barcelona, the Sanitas La Zarzuela Hospital in Madrid, the Vithas Xanit Internacional in Marbella and the Navarra University Clinic; as well as other major hospitals around the world. Currently, Spain has 14 hospitals with this seal.
Why is this International accreditation of health quality so important?
The General Director of Hospital Clínica Benidorm, Dr. Ana Paz has responded that “we have worked for several years to obtain the JCI, the most prestigious health quality certificate in the world because we have chosen to differentiate ourselves from our competition through Quality and Patient safety. We want HCB to stand out for its patient orientation and excellence in healthcare. It has been a journey of great efforts and teamwork that ends with this great reward, for all our patients and for the entire organization. ”
Commitment to Quality
The commitment to improving the Quality and Safety of the patient is reflected in the DNA of the organization: the Mission and Vision of Hospital Clínica Benidorm point directly to healthcare based on quality and personalized attention; to be the reference for private healthcare in the Marina Alta and Marina Baixa through strategies focused on patients and continuous Improvement systems.
This commitment to quality reaches the entire organization, made up of more than 400 employees. Between all of them, the hospital’s structure and its know-how have been reorganized to the more than 1,200 Quality standards required by JCI. These have been passed with high marks and certification has been obtained in the initial evaluation, a new milestone in the history of accreditation and of HCB.
“This means that, together, we have given it a totally patient-oriented approach. Patient-centred healthcare is not a Marketing concept, but a know-how with more than a thousand standards that prove an immense work of documentation, evaluation and implementation of a healthcare model based on the Quality and Safety of our patients. To do this, every step they take and every decision that any HCB healthcare professional makes is included in a document, constantly measured and evaluated for non-stop improvement”, explained Dr. Ana Paz.
The General Director of HCB, Ana Paz, has highlighted the commitment and teamwork that the evaluators have been able to see in the organization, where each member of staff –in their different services, central and complementary, facing the patient or not- give their best efforts so that their work is successful and that patients go home with the best possible results.
