Hospital Clínica Benidorm launches the new Pneumology Service, which will be headed by Dr. Dick Pasker, a multilingual Dutch specialist in Pneumology who joins the existing staff and who will serve most of the HCB external centres.
The expansion and renewal of the Pneumology Service responds to the high demand for this specialty in recent years and, especially, since the beginning of the COVID19 pandemic. The service offers care and treatment for respiratory pathologies typical of the specialty and also delves into the post-Covid pathology.
Specifically, Dr. Pasker’s fields of interest and experience are pulmonary oncology, obstructive lung diseases (ASMA / COPD), and sleep apnea.
Hospital Clínica Benidorm supports an international specialist who has developed his professional career between different European countries, including Spain, which allows him to master several languages and know both local and foreign patients very well.
In addition, Dr. Dick Pasker, who will be in charge of the Service, will continue to have Dr. David Orts, specialist in Pulmonology at HCB Benidorm, and will serve in the main external medical centres of the HCB network, as well as in the new HCB Denia hospital.

Dr. Dick (Hendrikus Gijsbertus) Pasker studied Medicine at the Free University of Amsterdam and specialized in Pulmonology at various university hospitals in the Netherlands: ‘Groene Hart ziekenhuis’ Hospital, Gouda; ‘Hilversum’ Hospital; and Maastricht Academic Hospital.
He was also able to carry out internships at the University Hospital of Munster, Germany; and research work at the ‘Gasthuisberg’ University Hospital in Leuven, Belgium.
Dr. Pasker’s professional career has been developed mainly at the ‘Waterlandziekenhuis’ Hospital, Purmerend (Netherlands), and already in Spain, in private healthcare in groups such as Quirón and IMED.
He is a member of the Spanish Society of Pulmonology and Thoracic Surgery (SEPAR), the Dutch Society of Pulmonology (NVALT) and the European Respiratory Society (ERS).
HCB Pneumology Service
The HCB Pneumology Service cares for different respiratory diseases: flu and common cold, bronchitis, pulmonary emphysema, bronchial asthma, pneumonia, lung cancer, pulmonary fibrosis, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary thromboembolism, etc.
The hospital structure of the service also allows the performance of complete examinations for the diagnosis of the main respiratory diseases (ultrasound bronchoscopy, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, biopsies, pleural drains and thoracic ultrasound).
In addition, the service can carry out Sleep Studies (Polysomnography, Diagnosis and Titled) thanks to the Neurophysiology Service of Hospital Clínica Benidorm and its Sleep Disorders Diagnosis Unit (for the management of Sleep Apnea).
POST COVID HCB check-up
Currently, the Pneumology Service also offers specific evaluations for patients with post-covid sequelae; In addition, it participates in the POST COVID HCB consultation, which is a specialized service for the assessment and treatment of any health problem related to COVID-19 infection led by a multidisciplinary medical team that adapts to each patient according to their medical needs.
